Immaculate Conception Catholic Regional School
Tradition of Excellence
Immaculate Conception Catholic Regional School continues the long and noble legacy set forth by Cranston-Johnston Catholic Regional School (CJCR) since its inception nearly 50 years ago. As successor to CJCR, we still continue the proud tradition that leads students and parents to use the words “family” and “community” to describe their school. With a history of excellence in a safe and nurturing environment, our students develop necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes that prepare them for a solid and successful high school and college experience.  More importantly, we seek to build the foundation for young people to lead lives of character, service, sacrifice and success.

When CJCR first opened in September 1960 as St. Mark’s School, its mission was to teach Catholic beliefs and values to young people from Cranston and neighboring communities. Over the decades, the school has grown in enrollment and reached increasingly ambitious goals. Today, Immaculate Conception Catholic Regional School stands on the shoulders of our tradition while expanding the role of Catholic education to children and families from communities around Rhode Island. We develop the whole student while addressing the principles of compassion, mercy and Christian service that we always have throughout the decades. We continue to expand opportunities in the Arts and athletics while developing a strong sense of community in the classroom, on the stage and on the court and field.

Our tradition of excellence is the result of hard work and dedication.  We are so thankful to God for the gift of supportive families, dedicated professional staff and visionary church leaders who have provided the assistance to grow into a transformative community for educating the mind, heart, spirit and body of young learners.  With the grace of God and the support of new families and young people, we hope to challenge ourselves to seek excellence in education and develop lives of character through faith.

  • School Choice Bill

    Rhode Island Catholic Schools

    Parent Federation

     May 16, 2013

We are pleased and excited to announce the following:

Bill 2013H 6131, RELATING TO EDUCATION-PARENTAL CHOICE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ACT,

was submitted by Representatives Coderre and Corvese on Thursday, May 16. When approved, this bill will assist parents in choosing the right school for their child. Expanding school choice and competition is one of the most important actions we can take to improve Rhode Island's schools. Expanded school choice may face strong opposition, however studies have exhibited that expanded choice improves student achievement, reduces segregation, promotes civic values, and facilitates other productive reforms.  Parental Choice in Education can take the form of issued educational vouchers, saving accounts and corporate tax credits.

We need all parents to reach out to their legislators now to let them know you support this bill. Once a committee hearing date has been established, you will be asked to join us at the State House to rally in favor of the bill.

Many thanks to Representatives Coderre and Corvese for submitting this bill.

    James Sheil

    President

    RI Catholic Schools Parent Federation
