Extended Care

The extended care program is designed to accommodate working parents of students in grades Pre-K – 8 in need of supervised extended care beyond the school day.  The program is available Monday through Friday until 5:30 PM unless noted on our school calendar.  The children in the program enjoy a safe, nurturing, healthy environment that assures parents that their children are cared for beyond the school day.

To ensure the safety of our students we limit participation in the extended care program. As a safety precaution, all students who are not picked up from school by 2:45 PM will be brought to extended care until a parent arrives.

Extended Care Information

  • Extended Care is for students in Little Saints through Grade 8 from 2:30 – 5:30 PM.

  • An hourly fee is charged to parents who take advantage of this service. Bills are sent home every two weeks with the student.  Parents should check their child’s backpack for an invoice every two weeks.  Please return your payment to the main office or to the homeroom teacher in an envelope marked “extended care.”  DO NOT SEND CASH. Parents are responsible for paying their extended care balance in a timely manner.  Families who have delinquent accounts may not be allowed to take advantage of the extended care program.  Questions about billing should be directed to Mrs. Jane Worrall, Business Manger.

  • The extended care form and student emergency form must be on file with the school before a child is allowed to attend the extended care program.

  • PICK-UP: to ensure the protection of our students and to maintain a secure campus, parents must enter through the front of the school where they will be allowed into the main office by the receptionist.  Parents are not to walk around the building, but must come to the main office where their child will be paged and brought to the parent for check out.   The parent/guardian must “sign-out” his/her child at the conclusion of each day of extended care.

  • All codes of conduct and appropriate forms of behavior are expected from all participants.  The staff and the principal will respond to all disciplinary concerns.

  • Extended care is not in session should the school be dismissed early due to weather conditions or holidays.  Please consult the school calendar for more information.

Parents should be aware:

  • In regard to homework worked on during extended care, students are “helped” to the extent that instructions are read and explained; however, the child is responsible for the work.  In order maintain supervision of all students, teachers cannot check and correct homework assignments.  Our Academic Dean will work with any parents who wish to arrange for tutoring services that provides individual instructional care.

  • Parents/guardians are reminded that teachers on duty during extended care time are not available to discuss academic progress of students.  Please schedule a mutually agreed upon meeting to discuss those concerns.
