Service Requirements

ELEMENTARY CHRISTIAN SERVICE REQUIREMENT

All elementary students are encouraged to participate in "random acts of Christian service" at home or in the community.  All students in grades Pre-K through 5 select and organize a class service project for the school year.  The students work together with the teacher to serve as young apostles and Christian youth service leaders.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHRISTIAN SERVICE REQUIREMENT

While the ultimate goal of Christian Service is to help foster a child’s habitual response to be a faith-filled, compassionate and generous citizen, our school requires a minimum number of hours served in “acts of Christian service” to encourage the development of this attitude.

Each middle school student is required to complete five (5) hours performing acts of Christian service each trimester every school year and school year totaling more than fifteen (15) hours.

The student must complete and return the appropriate Christian service form to the Theology teacher before the end of the trimester to receive a test grade of 100 in Christian Service each trimester.

Students who complete a service project during the summer or first trimester must complete and return the appropriate Christian service form to the Theology teacher before the end of the first trimester to receive a test grade of 100 in Christian Service for all three trimesters.  Students are encouraged to continue to perform acts of service and return the documented hours to the Theology teacher.

Recognition of Significant Christian Service Leaders in Middle School

We recognized those students who serve 100 or more hours of Christian Service in any school year with a Blessed Mother Christian Service Medal.   Mother Mary, the patroness of our school, serves as a role model and reminder that we must always say “yes” to our Lord and seek to serve God throughout our lives.  Students who also reflect Mary’s “yes” serve as role models in our school community and leaders of Christian service.  We recognize those individuals so that others might be inspired to follow Jesus in lives of complete service to God and God’s people.   We honor those student Christian Service Leaders with a Blessed Mother Medal in gratitude and prayer for their examples of living faith.

For this recognition, all hours must be performed and documentation returned to the religion teacher by the end of May.
